Overview

STEM degree programs often require more credits than standard degrees, leaving some veterans unable to complete their education before exhausting GI Bill benefits. The Rogers STEM Scholarship bridges this gap by extending benefits for qualifying students.

What You Receive

The scholarship provides whichever comes first:

Critical Limitation: This scholarship funds undergraduate-level programs only. Graduate degrees do not qualify.

Eligible Program Types

Three categories of programs qualify:

1. Undergraduate STEM degrees requiring at least 120 semester hours (or 180 quarter hours)
2. Teaching certification programs (after completing a STEM undergraduate degree)
3. Clinical training programs for healthcare professionals (after completing a STEM undergraduate degree)

Eligibility Criteria

For Undergraduate STEM Students

You must meet all requirements:

• Currently enrolled in an approved STEM degree program
• Program requires a minimum of 120 semester credits (or 180 quarter credits)
• Already completed at least 60 semester credits toward your degree
• Remaining Post-9/11 GI Bill entitlement: 6 months or less

For Teaching Certification

You must meet all requirements:

• Already hold an undergraduate STEM degree
• Currently enrolled in or accepted to a teaching certification program
• Remaining Post-9/11 GI Bill entitlement: 6 months or less

For Clinical Healthcare Training

You must meet all requirements:

• Already hold an undergraduate STEM degree
• Currently enrolled in or accepted to a VA-approved clinical training program
• Remaining Post-9/11 GI Bill entitlement: 6 months or less

Benefit Limits

Combined VA education benefits cannot exceed 48 months total. This cap includes: - Montgomery GI Bill - Post-9/11 GI Bill - STEM Scholarship extension - Other VA education programs

Approved Programs

The VA maintains lists of qualifying STEM degree programs and teaching certification programs. Your specific program must appear on the approved list.

Application Process

Submit VA Form 22-10203 through VA.gov. The application requires: - Proof of enrollment in qualifying program - Documentation of credits completed - Verification of remaining GI Bill entitlement
